Course Overview
This course is designed for learners wishing to pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or to continue with their studies into higher education.

During the course you will complete:
1. Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) Level 2 Diploma
• CAD
• 3D Printing
• Electronics
• Health and Safety
• Working Efficiently and Effectively
• CommunicationTechnical Information

2. BTEC Level Award in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
• Mathematics
• Engineering Drawing
•Electrical and Electronic Principles
• Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace
• Mechanical Principles
•Industrial Robotics

3. You will also complete Essential Skills Wales in Digital Literacy and Communications.
Assessment for all units and modules within the course is by way of theoretical and practical assignments.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language), Science and Maths (Higher Tier Maths beneficial). We will also accept successful completion of a relevant Level 2 qualification with GCSE Maths and English Language or Welsh (1st Language) at grade C/4 or above.

For those that have achieved a D/3 (or English equivalent Grade D/3) in GCSE English Language and have all other entry requirements, you may still be accepted onto the programme at our discretion. You would however be expected to attend additional English Language sessions on top of your programme and re-sit your GCSE at the college.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
– An Engineering/Manufacturing Apprenticeship.

– Continue onto a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma course for a further year of study, during which you will complete a further 120 credits of BTEC units. Examples of units include Further Maths, Further Mechanical Principles, Further Electrical/Electronic Principles, Engineering Project, Electronics and Engineering Business Studies, amongst others.

– Completion of the Extended Diploma will support progression towards entering full-time Higher Education (University).
