This study programme will meet the aspirations of learners that have gained a level 1 diploma in Motor Vehicle studies and want to gain a "hands on" job in the motor vehicle industry. This course will help learners further develop their knowledge of vehicle systems and repair procedures already gained from your Level 1 IMI Motor Vehicle qualification.
 

About the Course

This study programme will meet the aspirations of learners that have gained a level 1 diploma in Motor Vehicle studies and want to gain a "hands on" job in the motor vehicle industry. You will also have the opportunity to gain Functional Skills that will be essential if you wish to complete an apprenticeship at a later point in your career. This course will help learners further develop their knowledge of vehicle systems and repair procedures already gained from your Level 1 IMI Motor Vehicle qualification.



It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:



• Correctly carrying out vehicle servicing.

• Correct safe removal and replacement of vehicle components: clutches, hub assemblies, suspension springs, alternators , starter motors plus lots more...

• Stretching knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronic systems gained in the level 1 course- How to carry out checks to individual components.

• Working with others and developing knowledge as to how garages operate.



Health and safety is of paramount importance in all areas of the automotive industry, and this will be reinforced throughout the course.



To aid in the learners development they will  be gaining valuable work experience within our own commercial area working in a "real working environment".



Whilst at the college you will be encouraged to take part in competitions, participate in the college enrichment programmes and develop your entrepreneurial skills through charitable and community projects which run throughout the year and are led by students.

Progression

Successful completion of all elements of this study programme will allow you to progress in several different ways, including; • Further full time training at level 3 within the Motor Vehicle industry. • Gaining employment within the automotive industry and undertaking an apprenticeship scheme to gain further qualifications and experience. • Your knowledge and skills would be useful in gaining employment within the automotive industry in a number of roles such as parts, sales or service reception.

Entry Requirements

Option to Enrol directly on L2 Course as a Fastrack learner with English  Grade 4 and Maths Grade 4 . Progressing Learners require Successful completion of L1 Diploma IN Motor Vehicle  and Grade 3 in English and Maths.

Assessment

Learning takes place through a variety of theory and practical lessons. Students will also need to carry out personal research to enable them to successfully complete the course- guidance on this will be given by the course tutors. Your skills and knowledge will be continually assessed throughout the course through formal multiple choice examinations and practical tests. Support will be provided through regular meetings with your course tutor.
