Introduction to the course
This Level 1 course gives you general training in construction skills and will prepare you for finding a job in the construction industry. You will gain experience of up to three construction trades – brickwork, carpentry and joinery, and painting and decorating.
What do I need?
You will need to attend College for an interview, complete an initial assessment, which is a test to check your level of English and maths and have a good reference.
How is the course taught?
This is a very practical based course so a lot of your time will be carrying out practical tasks in the workshop. Classroom activities will be fun and interactive to support your skills development in the workshop.
How will I be assessed?
Your assessments are carried out in the workshop and in classroom environments. You will need to demonstrate basic skills development in a range of subjects such as brickwork, carpentry and painting and decorating.
What does it lead to?
You could choose to study a level 1 trade qualification or progress onto an apprenticeship. This course will give you good knowledge of a range of subjects to be employed in the construction industry.
What jobs could this lead to?
Bricklayer, Carpenter, Joiner, Painter and Decorator.
