This course is suitable for learners progressing from successful completion of the Level one Diploma in Transport Maintenance or equivalent, direct entry may be considered with the correct grades and some previous mechanical experience.
3 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above ideally including maths or English Language or Level 1 Diploma Light Vehicle Systems Maintenance.
You will study a range of topics which include: • Light vehicle engines. • Mechanical, lubrication and cooling system units and components. • Light vehicle fuel, ignition, air and exhaust system units and components. • Removing and replacing light vehicle transmission and driveline units and components. • Health, safety and good housekeeping in the automotive environment • Supporting job roles in the automotive environment • Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment. • Routine light vehicle maintenance. • Removing and replacing light vehicle engine units and components. • Removing and replacing light vehicle electrical units and components. • Removing and replacing light vehicle chassis units and components.
The qualification is assessed by using a range of methods including Multi-choice on-line tests, written assignments and practical assessment.
Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.
