Level 3 Extended Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Apply NowCourse Description
This course is for learners who enjoy design technology and are looking to start or progress their career in engineering and advanced manufacturing. It focuses on the major disciplines within engineering giving the learner the knowledge and hand skills needed to develop or build on a successful career in engineering and advanced manufacturing. Learners will have the opportunity to study one of four engineering technology areas. These are: manufacturing, welding & fabrication, engineering maintenance or electrical & electronics. This course prepares learners for Higher Education (university), alternatively learners can look to go into apprenticeships in Engineering or employment. The UCAS point’s students can earn from this course allows them to go onto university. Further study can lead onto a career in engineering or to study engineering at university. Study comprises a mixture of both practical fabrication and welding activities and lectures. The skills you’ll gain are highly transferable to employment within the manufacturing industry or general engineering disciplines. There is a strong level of Maths and Physics in this course.
Qualifications
Pearsons BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering L3
Entry Requirements
Due to the level of Maths and Sciences on
this level 3 course, the entry requirements are GCSE grade C/4 and above in
Maths, English and Science. Entry is also subject to initial assessment and diagnostics.
This is a government requirement but also needed by many employers for a number
of careers.
Details
The Level 3 qualification teaches learners about mechanical engineering
through a mixture of practical work and classroom work. The practical work
teaches the hands-on skills, classroom work teaches the knowledge needed for
the trade. Learners will study about principals and techniques used in the
industry and will apply them in practical sessions.
Maths and Physics are highly embedded into this course as they are
crucial to this industry.
Core units on this course include:
