Applied Science is a suite of courses that provide an educational foundation for those wishing to pursue a career in science. They cover a wide range of topics and require a high level of practical laboratory skills. Successful students will achieve a recognised qualification to enable them to move into employment or apply to study at degree or Higher National Diploma/Certificate level.
This course provides an educational foundation for those wishing to pursue a career in the medical science field, forensic science field or as a science technician in a wide variety of laboratory settings. This course is equivalent to three full A Levels and contains a large amount of practical work.

Entry Requirements
In order to begin this course students are required to achieve 4 GCSEs grade C/4 or above to include English, Mathematics and Science. BTEC Level 2 qualifications, NVQ Level 2 or VRQ Level 2 qualifications are also accepted.

Work Experience
Although there are no specific work experience placements, there is a combination of theory and practical classes in our purpose built science laboratories.
Progression
Upon completion of this course learners are able to progress onto higher education or employment, with many possible careers including: Laboratory technician, forensics, analytical scientist, anthropologist, scenes of crime officer or roles in any of the following fields: biomedical science, pharmacy, micro biology or radiography.
