COMPUTING: DIGITAL DESIGN & PRODUCTION T LEVEL

This course is aimed at learners who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of computing, with proven application in a “real world” setting. The T Level has an emphasis on real industry experience and is equivalent to three A Levels. This course will develop your programming skills in a range of different programming languages. You will gain experience using industry standard development environments, techniques, and source code management platforms. This will equip you to face real world programming challenges. Investigating different software design methodologies, modelling approaches and project management tools will allow you to build the skills needed for your own software development projects. You will learn about the value of digital technology and gain an understanding of customer and commercial needs. Discussions about the ethical and moral issues raised by the increasing reliance on technology and automation and the importance of legal requirements will form part of your studies.

You will be sent a career plan prior to your interview date to complete and bring along with you on the day. The interview is a two-way process which will give you the opportunity to discuss the course and suitability with the subject tutor.

Specialist Skills 

You will learn specialist skills for your industry in classroom-based environments, such as workshops. You will need to show evidence of your achievements and demonstrate your ability to work in your chosen industry. 

An employer-set project which will require you to apply your knowledge and skills to a set challenge. 

You will develop your knowledge and understanding of the following core ‘digital elements’:

You will be taught in a variety of ways to include workshops, lectures and seminars whilst also undertaking industry placement, to help support and underpin the theoretical knowledge gained in class. Digital methods of teaching and learning will be embedded to enable you to access materials at all times.

Your T Level will include an industry placement with an employer to develop the practical and technical skills required to work in your chosen occupation. The placement is for a minimum of 315 hours/45 days. The Isle of Wight College encourages all students to find their own appropriate industry placement as part of the course. The college will also support students to secure a relevant industry placement if needed. Your placement may be day release, a block placement, or a combination of both. Therefore, you will be required to be flexible.

You will gain a T Level in Digital Support Services and be able to progress straight into employment or continue to a higher-level apprenticeship, degree or to the HND Computing. 

Students can progress into employment and work in roles such as:

• IT business analyst
