The Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

Who can do this course?

  • Anyone over the age of 16.
  • Must have GCSE English and Maths A*-C Or Level 2 in Maths and English Functional Skills 
  • Learners without GCSE or Functional skills can enrol on our Functional Skills course alongside the Early Years qualification.
  • Prior experience in childcare will also be considered.

How You Will Be Assessed

The Qualification is gained from your coursework so there is no exam to complete. 

To gain this qualification the learner will need to: 

  • Pass all units. 
  • Show competence in a real work environment. 

Portfolios are assessed by your tutor.

The course is 12-14 months long. To complete this course you need suitable placement for collecting your work-based evidence for the course assignments. 1 days a week of face to face learning at the college.

Career prospect

Learners can progress to the Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner or other higher level early years qualifications. 

Learners can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as: 

  • Assistant in Children's Centres 
  •  Practitioner in nursery schools 
  •  Practitioner in reception classes in primary schools 
  •  Pre-school worker

Fees and Funding

The cost of the course is £1,500 with a deposit of £300, if you wish to pay upfront. 

 

Advanced Learner Loan   

Or you can apply for an advanced learner loan to cover the cost of tuition, which you will only be required to repay once you are earning at least £27,000. Call us to find out if you are eligible. 

 

AEB Funding   

Full Level 3  courses may be free for 19 year olds + who do not already have a full L3 or above qualification. 

  

If you live in the Great London Authority and you are unemployed and earn less than £21,157.50 annual gross salary (before any deductions) and can evidence your salary with payslips, you may be eligible for low-income fee remission, depending on the course you are studying. If you live outside the Greater London Authority area, the income threshold is £17,374.50.
