Course Overview

The UAL Diploma in Creative Media Production (Software Development) is offered at Level 3. In partnership with the University of Huddersfield, using a project-based approach, you will learn industry skills that will allow you to create software applications covering a range of programming languages. Using industry standard software, and following the SDLC, you will research, design, and develop software applications that you will share with a selection of your peers.
In year one, you will create a series of software applications that follow the SDLC using a range of programming languages such as #C, Python and JS. You will also explore the different employment opportunities within the software development industry. On the second year of the course, you will extend your skills to experiment with further programming languages extending into mobile applications and data analytics, and potentially programming hardware.
You will undertake group projects and develop essential skills that will help you to progress to the next level, ultimately working in the software development industry. This course offers a broad range of practical study, using great facilities with industry-standard equipment. You’ll complete various assessments throughout the course, resulting in a final industry-standard portfolio of work, and an end of year show where you’ll showcase your work professionally.
The course enables you to become independent learners as well as learning key soft skills that are valued in any profession:

If you have an EHCP then please be aware that the college needs to have agreed, via the consultation period with your local authority, that we can meet the needs outlined in your EHCP before you can start on a course with us.

Project management, UI/UX designer, graphic and digital design, software developer, and other programming industries.

You will be assessed through assignments and practical project work that count towards your final grade. Your tutor will provide regular feedback and maintain a record of assessment. All student work may be externally verified.
