Course Summary:

The course covers a huge range of topics and is designed to develop skills and experiences that enhance our learners’ chances of progressing to university or pursuing a career in the Health and Social Care sector. Typical topics include: Developing Effective Communication, Equality & Diversity and Anatomy and Physiology. For those looking to work in areas such as Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy we also offer a specialist health route to ensure our students leave with everything they need to progress onto these competitive courses.

Career destinations:

Health and Social Care is the ideal stepping stone to HE courses and careers in areas such as Nursing, Social Work and Teaching. Alternatively the skills acquired will lead into employment based training in the Health and Social Care sector. Former students are currently studying Adult Nursing at the University of Manchester,Mental Health Nursing at University of Huddersfield and  Psychotherapy and Counselling at MMU.

Entry Requirements:

There are no specific entry requirements to study this course, but an interest in health and social care is preferred.

Assessment Method:

1000% Coursework a Mixture of Internal, External and Workplace Assessment

The Extended Project:

We offer Pre-Teaching and First Aid Enrichment classes. These short courses help with university and job applications. In addition, we run a Workshop ‘drop in’ session for grade improvement or to catch up on coursework.

There is also a Heart-start  training course in emergency life support for all students.
