This course will help you to understand how the different construction trades work and prepare you for employment or an apprenticeship in construction.

This Construction Level 2 study programme will give you an introduction to a variety of construction trades and a basic grounding in a variety of skills. 

You will gain skills in specific trade areas, and this will help you decide which trade is the right one for you and your future career. 

The following construction trades are covered within the programme:

  • Carpentry and joinery
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Construction operations

Upon successful completion of this programme, you can progress onto an apprenticeship within your chosen trade. 

What I'll learn

You'll learn basic construction skills and knowledge and undertake various practical and knowledge-based activities.

 

How I'll learn

Practical sessions take place in fully equipped workshops supported by theoretical sessions to provide foundation knowledge and understanding.

 

How I'll be assessed

You'll be assessed through practical projects and written assignments.

 

Entry Requirements

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 (D), one of which one must be maths.

Completion of a Level 1 construction course if supported by satisfactory references from teaching staff and a grade 3 (D) in maths will also be accepted.

If you do not have a grade 4 (C) in GCSE English language and maths you will be required to be working towards achieving this alongside your course.
