Motor Vehicle(Vocational)

Did you know the average car contains 30,000 unique parts and that over 60 million cars produced every year? Students with a passion for engines will benefit from our brand new, fully-equipped, purposebuilt motor vehicle workshop. The new state-of-the-art garage is installed with industry standard equipment including: a four-poster ramp, brake testing and diagnostic testing equipment.

This gives students practical, real-life work experience whilst completing their studies. This course is designed to give you an awareness of vehicle operating systems. You will develop an understanding of the maintenance procedures through practical tasks using modern technology and tools.

You will develop industry standard skills working in our up to date, well equipped, state of the art motor vehicle workshop where you will work with the latest industry inspired equipment such as: all new two and four-post-ramps, the latest diagnostic equipment, gas and smoke analysers, four wheel aligners, air conditioning machines and much more. You will acquire the skills required to work with the latest computer controlled vehicle systems.

Level 1 Diploma in Motor Vehicle Studies

Health and safety, introduction to motor vehicle, fault finding, cooling and lubrication, spark ignition and engine component and transmission.

Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair 

If you have previously completed a Level 1 Motor Vehicle Qualification then you can progress directly onto the level 2 programme.

We currently offer a City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair that is designed specifically to meet the technical needs of the motor vehicle industry.

The qualification currently consists of three written assignments and these include: Health and Safety, Tools and Equipment and Working Relations.

The course consists of seven units, including: Engine Mechanical, (Lubrication and Cooling), Engine Fuel, Ignition, Air and Exhaust, Chassis (brakes, steering, suspension and wheels and tyres), Electrical, Transmission, Routine Maintenance and Inspection. 

The course provides you with the essential underpinning knowledge required to allow you to progress on to the level 3 programme

Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair 

If you have previously completed a Level 2 Motor Vehicle Qualification then you can progress directly onto the level 3 programme.

We currently offer a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair that is designed specifically to meet the technical needs of the motor vehicle industry.

The qualification consists of diagnosis and rectification of the four main units and these are: Engines, Chassis (steering, suspension, wheels & tyres & brakes), Electrical and Transmission.

The course is 34 weeks long and is structured so that the technical and practical aspects are run alongside each other.

The qualification provides you with essential knowledge in order to carry out diagnosis and repairs of cars and light commercial vehicles.

This qualification will also allow you the opportunity to progress into industry to become an M.O.T tester, auto electrician and much more and it gives you the skills required to become a competent vehicle technician.
