This exciting and dynamic study programme provides the advanced theoretical knowledge which underpins the skills and understanding required for the electronic engineering industry, including product design, innovation and conception, and advanced engineering.
The programme is assessed through a combination of written assignments and practical work carried in our fully equipped laboratories. Subjects studied include electronic and electrical principles, science and mathematics, electronics systems, microelectronics and software development. Students must pass all elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.
All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

You are encouraged to learn using hands-on practical work, gaining the skills needed to construct sophisticated circuits for processing signals and controlling systems using the latest technology. Practical work is carried out in the purpose built and well equipped electronics laboratory.
You choose your own final year project to demonstrate the knowledge you have gained from the electronics and programming modules.
You will be supported by a small team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable lecturing staff who have a diverse range of experience gained from industry.
Students who complete this programme may progress on to Higher Education. Alternatively,you could enter employment including apprenticeships in hi-tech electronics and computer related industries. Some students decide to enter Higher Education and take a Foundation or Honours Degree in electronics or computing.
No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2019.
