If you fall outside these criteria, you can either pay the full fee or apply for an advanced learner loan. A 10% discount will be applied to the Standard fee for those students who take out an Advanced Learner Loan.

General Information

Study our Level 3 Diploma in Accounting course to learn higher accounting techniques and disciplines. The purpose of this qualification is to ensure that students are well prepared to progress into a career in business, finance or professional accountancy, or into further education. AAT Qualifications are recognised by employers as practical and technical qualifications that prepare students for the world of work and for working specifically in accountancy and finance roles.

What will I learn on this course?

,

Students will learn and develop skills needed for a range of financial processes, including maintaining cost accounting records, advanced bookkeeping and the preparation of financial reports and returns. They will also understand the business environment, technology used in finance and accounting, business issues regarding payroll and value added tax (VAT), issues in business, management accounting techniques, ethical principles and sustainability considerations for accountants.

Students will develop an understanding of business and its structure and purpose, as well as appreciating the wider business environment. Students will develop skills supporting complex financial processes, such as final accounts, reports and returns, use of technology to provide management accounting information, and completion of VAT returns.

This qualification comprises four mandatory units:

Business Awareness

Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements

Management Accounting Techniques

,

Tax Processes for Businesses.

There will be a computer based exam after each of the units.

All exams will take place during the daytime.

,

All students must pay a one-off registration fee which is approximately £225.00. Please contact AAT directly for the current price that they charge as this is subject to change. This fee is paid to AAT directly by the student and not to Sutton College. Your tutor will give you information about registering on the first day of the course.

Students must also purchase various AAT books to use for their studying. Your tutor will inform you of the books that are required.

What level is this course & what skills do I need?

,

This course is a Level 3 

,

1: You will need to have appropriate levels of English and Maths skills in order to produce assignments necessary for this course. 

,

You must have achieved an English Language and Maths Level 2 qualification or above. This can be either GCSE grades 4 - 9 / C - A* or Functional Skills Level 2. You will be asked to provide your certificates during the Course Approval Assessment.

,

If you do not have these qualifications, then you will also be asked to do an online English Language and Maths test for the Course Approval Assessment to assess that you have the appropriate level of English and Maths in order to be accepted onto the course.

2: Accounting Level 2 certificate AAT or Bookkeeping Level 2 (First Class Pass).

3: You must also be competent in the use of Microsoft Excel in order to complete spreadsheet tasks in the management accounting module exam.
