This is a broad course designed to develop skills useful in working with and caring for people.

Course content includes: Introduction to the Caring Sectors; Keeping Children Safe; Communication with Adults and Children in Health & Social Care; Managing money matters; Career Progression; Working in a team.

Entry requirements

You should have a desire to work with people and an interest in caring for others.

Where next?

Once you complete the Diploma, you could progress to the Level 2 Extended Certificate in Health & Social Care. This course could help you find a job in a variety of caring organisations, such as day-care centres and residential homes for older adults and people with special needs.

Work experience and employability

This course contains a significant amount of volunteering during class time; Students will go and volunteer in community projects like care homes for the elderly or accessible sporting activities.

What additional resources will I need?

We advise you to purchase a memory stick and bring your own stationary. Other costs for trips and equipment may incurred.

Fees information

This course is free to students aged 16-18.

Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission. For those paying, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available. For further advice on fees, waivers and loans, please contact the Fees Co-Ordinator at Queens Drive.
