Dundee's 4 year LLB in Scots Law satisfies the academic component of training to become a solicitor or advocate in Scotland. On successful completion of the LLB, our graduates are eligible to start the one year Vocational Diploma before commencing their traineeship.

Dundee graduates have also used their law degrees, and the transferable skills they have acquired, to achieve success in many other fields, including working in regulators such as the Competition and Markets Authority, forensic accountancy, the civil service and legal technology.

David Coutts
“I did my traineeship at Anderson Strathern in Edinburgh from 2011-2013 until I qualified as a solicitor, and I’ve been working in Edinburgh as a family lawyer ever since. A degree from the University of Dundee is something to be really proud of because it’s a hugely well-regarded institution which sets you up to achieve. If you’re considering studying at Dundee, do it! You won’t look back.”

Amy Donachie
“The best thing about my course was being able to choose, and study, the subjects I was most interested in and wanted to gain a deeper knowledge of. I was able to take private international law and roman law during my honours years, both of which are required for admittance as a devil to the Faculty of Advocates. This assisted in my aim to become an Advocate some 8 years later!”
