The course will develop your understanding and foundations of core computing, programming, systems design and software development.

During the course, you will develop your skills and knowledge in areas such as computer networks, server and security management. The course is modular and the content is designed to be flexible enough to provide you with underpinning knowledge in all subjects.

You will also be given the opportunity to explore a range of areas in more detail.

As part of this course, you will also work with an employer, this can be completed alongside your course in the two days in which you are not studying or as block placements throughout the term breaks.

What will I study?

The course will allow you to develop your awareness of professional standards of conduct and practice; which will provide you with the ability to apply your skills, knowledge and understanding to a variety of computing problems and contexts.

You will study a Higher National Certificate (HNC), receiving a nationally recognised Higher Education qualification at the end of the year which is roughly equivalent to the first year of a BA (Hons) degree.
