Entry Criteria
4 GCSEs (A*-C/9-4) including maths, English and science, or a relevant Level 2 Diploma.
Don't meet the grades? Take a look at the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering for a solid understanding of key areas - you will be able to progress to the Level 3 upon successful completion.
You will also be invited to a Course Introduction Meeting.

What will I study?
Study engineering and you could be on the road to becoming a highly-skilled technician, able to work in a variety of disciplines including: product design, aerospace, manufacturing, electrical and electronics and communications plus mechanical, nuclear and energy as well as environment and transport engineering. Working in our state-of-the-art Innovation Lab, you will develop skills in a variety of disciplines.
You’ll study the following mandatory units:

Delivery of engineering processes safely as a team

Engineering product design and manufacture

Applied commercial and quality principles in engineering

Microcontroller systems for engineers

A specialist engineering project

Calculus to solve engineering problems
You’ll also be able to choose from a wide range of optional units, including:

Electrical installation of hardware and cables

Power and energy electronics

Maintenance of mechanical systems

Thermodynamic principles and practice

Computer-aided design in engineering

Pneumatic and hydraulic systems

Composites manufacture and repair processes
Alongside your course you’ll study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.

Following the completion of your Extended Diploma, you may be able to progress to degree or higher level courses at university.
