What's covered?

The travel & tourism industry is a dynamic and fast growing sector accounting for over 2.1 million jobs in the United Kingdom. Our City and Guilds qualifications will provide you with key skills and knowledge to gain employment in this fast growing industry. Located near Windsor, we have the benefit of a leading cultural heritage on our doorstep, alongside LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, two major airports and a leading supplier of GDS systems with whom we offer further retail training opportunities.

The course gives you the skills and knowledge to work in airports, airlines, tour operators, travel agencies, hotels or other accommodation, tourist information centres, tourist attractions, cruise line companies, holiday centres, conference or events organisations. We have great links with employers with whom we work to provide routes into employment. You will be taught by a team of lecturers with a high level of commercial knowledge and subject experience.

The following units will be covered: Worldwide Travel Destinations Tourism in the UK Promotions and Sales in Travel and Tourism Developing People in Travel and Tourism Developing of Tour Operators Products and Services Package Holidays Arranging Business Travel Worldwide Adventure Tourism Responding to Emergency and Problem Situations in Tourism Destinations Conferences and Events

You will also study 'Aviation Operations on the Ground' and receive an additional certificate qualification for this, which is perfect for those wishing to pursue an airport based career.

You also have the opportunity to improve your English and Maths skills at an appropriate level.

What do you need?

Five GCSE to grade 4 or above including Maths and English or a merit in L2 qualification with Maths and English grade 4 equivalent.

How you are assessed

Essays, reports, presentations, project work, role plays, simulated experiences, short answer questions and tests.

What could this lead to?

The course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to commence an exciting and fulfilling career within the travel and tourism industry at supervisory level. City and Guilds Qualifications do not yet carry UCAS points, but are widely accepted by Universities across the country. Past students have gone on to study Travel and Tourism, Hospitality and Airline Management, or other related subjects at degree level.
